Let Me Take You Down
The Casbah, Strawberry Field and the National Trust:
The Beatles Story and Liverpool Beatles Museum

As extra places to visit on your Beatles Tour in Liverpool, you can choose to visit The Casbah Coffee Club, Strawberry Field and John and Paul’s childhood homes. But what will you find? Why should you visit there?

The Casbah Coffee Club

The Casbah
The Casbah
The Casbah Coffee Club at 8, Haymans Green, West Derby in Liverpool, was opened on 29th August 1959 by Mona Best, the mother of future Beatles drummer Pete Best.
The Quarrymen opened the club as the new resident group, featuring (as above) George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ken Brown and John Lennon. They even helped to decorate the club, and that original artwork is still there!

You will receive a private tour from Roag Best Jnr, Mona’s grandson! The story is incredible, with lots of surprises!
You can visit The Casbah Coffee Club on any of our tours from 4 hours and longer, whether on a Private Beatles Tour, a Cab Beatles Tour or the VIP Beatles tours.

Strawberry Field

Strawberry Field
Strawberry Field
Strawberry Field was made famous by John Lennon in The Beatles’ classic single, “Strawberry Fields Forever”. Now open as a visitor experience, you can walk through the grounds, where John had walked all those years ago.
But there is so much more! Still owned and run by the Salvation Army, Strawberry Field now has a visitor experience, where you can discover the story of the buildings and children’s home that John knew, right through to the composition of the song. John and Yoko maintained links with Strawberry Field for many years.
In the middle of the Strawberry Field Experience is a unique exhibit: the piano that John owned, upon which he recorded his classic song, “Imagine”.
Take a stroll through the grounds and see John’s Imagine piano – but there is no substitute for being there!

You can visit The Casbah Coffee Club on any of our tours from 4 hours and longer, whether on a Private Beatles Tour, a Cab Beatles Tour or the VIP Beatles tours.

John and Paul’s Homes

20 Forthlin Road
20 Forthlin Road
The National Trust run tours inside the childhood homes of John Lennon at 251 Menlove Avenue, known as “Mendips”: and 20, Forthlin Road, the family of Paul McCartney from when he was 13.
The interiors of both houses have been restored to how they would have looked back in the 1950s when John and Paul were living in their respective houses.
The tours are run by the National Trust, but we can build a visit into our special All Day Tours – Private Tours, Cab Tours or VIP Tours – so that you don’t need to worry about booking them.
NOTE: The houses are not open all year round, or even every day of the week, so please check with us when you are enquiring. Tours book up well in advance, too.
